grilled pizza

last week we had pizza for dinner. since i am one of the pickiest eaters i know, i usually make my own pizza that doesn’t involve cheese.

due to time constraints i bought the pizza dough at the store. i didn’t do anything different with it, i just rolled it a bit thicker than i would have for the pizza pan, and made it oblong instead of round. i grilled one side with nothing on it, flipped the dough, grilled it for about a minute. then i took the dough inside, topped it with my toppings, and brought it back out onto the grill to cook again for another 5 or so minutes. just until the dough started to puff up.

i was going to go a step further this time and make a pizza that didn’t involve red sauce too. so i opted to use homemade scallion hummus as the sauce, and i put some leftover grilled eggplant and some sautéed spinach and garlic on top.

it was pretty much awesome, and i don’t think i’ll ever have regular pizza again when i’m at home! i really enjoyed grilling it, and i loved my toppings. i can’t wait to try again with whatever veggies we happen to have laying around.

back in the saddle

last friday my good friend maria had a horseback riding lesson at seven j’s farm in glastonbury. it was great to see her up on a horse again, even if it was a new horse that she didn’t know! she did great for a first time back in a long time, and i was happy to be there to take some pictures for her.

keep up the great work, maria!!!

pride in hartford

on 5 june, hartford had a gay pride event in bushnell park. we had just gotten home from cape cod, but since dad had to go check out some stuff there for work, we took a ride over. we got there just as things were winding down. there weren’t many people left in the park, but we heard that there were loads of people there earlier – which is awesome!

i dedicate this blog to all my gay friends! i wish that i could have celebrated pride with you, but know that i love you very much and miss you all!

welcoming eva part 2

a continuation of photos from yesterday’s post about eva!

welcoming eva part 1

yesterday naomi’s family threw a party to welcome eva! it was so nice to see everyone getting together to celebrate the little monkey! i had a great time taking oodles of photos – and it was hard to pare it down to a manageable amount to post! so to combat this, i am putting the photos up in 2 installments – one today and one tomorrow. so don’t forget to come back and check on the rest of the photos!!!

visits with eva

i am very very lucky to have the time to be visiting eva (and naomi) on a fairly regular basis. kevin is very very patient and doesn’t mind going over to visit with me about once a week or so. here are a few new pics of eva from late in may and early this month!

kevin hadn’t held her at all until this week, and then it wasn’t willingly. i just slipped her onto his stomach when he was laying on the couch – then he was forced to hold her. it was very cute.

yesterday eva came to visit us at my house! my mom watched her while naomi and i ran out for a little bit to pick up some crafting supplies. we were out a tad longer than expected and thought eva would be fussy when we got back. how surprised were we that she was passed out cold in the snugli that my mom used when i was a baby! mom demonstrated for us how to get stuff done around the house with the baby – she was doing laundry while eva slept on her. it was precious!

chillin’ in chatham

the last stop on our very brief tour de cape was chatham. we got there late in the afternoon, so most of the stores were closed. we still had a very nice time walking around! it is absolutely somewhere that i want to visit again and explore a bit more.

welcome to wellfleet, enjoy the parade

when we came into the center of wellfleet last friday we saw a bunch of children lining up for what seemed to be a parade. the main road was lined with parents, so we quick found some parking in a church parking lot and then got up to the road just in time to see the wellfleet elementary school come marching by! each grade in the school focused on some sort of balance – balanced life, balanced diet, etc. it was pretty awesome!

on our little getaway we didn’t do much relaxing at the beach. it was to chilly for all that! but we did take a drive up to corn hill beach to walk around and take some photos. it ended up being a gorgeous day on friday, and i’m glad we got to head up there before we going to explore wellfleet!

presenting provincetown

last week my cousin scooped kevin and i up and we spent a few days on cape cod. the goal of the trip was to visit new places and take photos. we were only there a few days, and we stayed in eastham – which is almost like a new world to me! i have some family on the cape, and i have been quite a few times, but i usually stayed in the dennis / yarmouth area. it was great fun to explore the other end of the cape.

the first day we went to provincetown – here are a smattering of photos from there!
